Join Us for a Unique Story Time Experience!
We are teaming up with the Parlin-Ingersoll Library to offer a unique story time experience that is especially helpful for local neurodivergent (autistic/ADHD) kids, kids with disabilities, and kids (with or without particular conditions) who struggle with schedule and routine disruption over the summer. This free weekly event combines the library's love of reading with sensory play and a structured, predictable routine to help kids experience better emotional regulation and help families know they are not alone as they navigate summer challenges that are quite different from what most people might expect to encounter.
Each week's gathering will begin indoors at Trinity Lutheran Church for our story time activities and a snack, then end with sensory playtime across the street at our sensory play area (weather permitting) or at Trinity using our supply of sensory toys, which now also include a couple of spin chairs and sensory rockers! Each kid will also receive a free sensory toy each week to take home and use to help them feel regulated from day to day. Registration is not required but is encouraged so that we can create the best possible experience for everyone. Please note that, although the event will be held at a church, the stories will not be religious ones. We are just creating a welcoming and helpful space for local families who may benefit from an activity that is geared toward their children's unique needs.
